I do advanced searches to identify potential candidates and typically will send InMails rather than trying to get to a person via the introduction route. If an individual has an email address posted in their profile, I may also send an email directly to the person.I have filled several jobs over the years and typically they are at the executive level. I dont see much below a Senior Manager or Director level as being very effective on LinkedIn. But at Senior Manager, Director, Vice President, CEO levels, it is great.

The  disturbing accounts from women are drawn from the course of nearly three decades, and include being forced to meet alone in hotel rooms, cope with aggressive requests for nude massages, and fend off unwanted sexual advances from the Hollywood mogul, who was their employer and sometimes mentor. Pressure to comply Weinstein’s behavior was regarded as an open secret in Hollywood. That it took decades for this story to become public shows how Weinstein leveraged the careers, salaries, and reputations of employees, assistants, executives, and young, vulnerable actresses to his advantage, according to his accusers. Women in the reports said they would confide in co-workers about Weinstein’s misconduct, but most feared accusing Weinstein publicly because of his influence over their careers. For well-established actresses like Paltrow, keeping a relationship with Harvey was critical for maintaining her career. Paltrow, who ended up winning an Oscar for a film produced by Weinstein, said she was “expected to keep the secret” of her harassment and publicly praised him. To deny Weinstein was to risk never working in Hollywood. When actress Mira Sorvino rejected Weinstein’s sexual advances, she told The New Yorker that her career suffered: she “felt iced out and that my rejection of Harvey had something to do with it.”

The bluegrass phenom,  best known as George Clooney’s singing voice in O Brother Where Art Thou, and the vocalist on Avicii’s Hey Brother, is also the long-standing mandolin and guitar player/vocalist in Alison Krauss’s band Union Station. Despite releasing several solo albums over the years, it was last fall’s release of his new solo album Southern Gothic that caused a flurry of attention including Tyminski’s first solo artist appearances on Good Morning America and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. I cannot tell a lie. Until a small-ish concert in New York early this year, I was familiar with the voice but not the man. I was most impressed with the fact that Tyminski possesses a giant talent and what seems like a modest ego. He spoke with Ladders about some of the things that go into creating an overnight success.Stay true to your ethics“I’v e been doing it a long time, but it’s so different,” said Tyminski about his musical career shift. “It’s so weird to have been doing what you do for this long and still have it feel brand new” Tyminski continued.“I’ve played a small niche music for most of my life on the large scale with Alison. Bluegrass doesn’t touch as many people as pop and rock and other genres. It’s the energy I’ve always loved. Even though it’s a bigger setting now, I don’t think I’ve had to change who I am at all. With his updated sound, came the updated and streamlined band name as well- simply his last name. Tyminski said, “I process it all a little differently now, not because my name is on the marquee; I’m attached to the songs because my name is on them.”He shared an anecdote about playing on Good Morning America and how the producers wanted to change a lyric in the song Temporary Love which euphemistically deals with drug use: “When they said change the lyric, I just stopped. In all my years of performing, I’ve known that you make the adjustment and move on. This time I was passionate because it’s my lyric.”End result? Tyminski performed a different song.Stay enthusiastic“Anyone who says they don’t get excited when they win a Grammy is probably lying,” Tyminski said. “Especially when you’re talking about industry people who live it … who  do it. Every single time you’re sitting there and they call your name.”Treat every success as an overnight success“Despite looking at my career from several vantage points I realize that you get excited because you always live in the moment. Neil Armstrong Neil Armstrong Neil Armstrong Neil Armstrong was not the flashiest of the Apollo astronauts. He could appear rather stiff in public appearances, and colleagues like Chuck Yeager said his flying style lacked natural feel it was too technical. He may have even muffed his big line before a worldwide audience of half a billion people. Armstrongs small-town roots and squeaky clean Eagle Scout demeanor contributed to the Only in America mythos of Apollo 11s pioneering journey to the moon in 1969. His history-making moonwalk was the ideal tonic for the world at the height of the stressed-out sixties. But who needs pizzazz when youve just pulled off the most flamboyant technological achievement of the 20th century, and possibly of all time? Armstrong was above all an engineer, with an inborn ability to make the sensational achievable. Armstrong was born in 1930 in Wapakoneta, OH, to Stephen and Viola Armstrong. His father worked as an auditor for the state of Ohio. Armstrong developed an early interest in aviation, experiencing his first airplane flight at age 6. He began pilot training at 15, and was a licensed pilot before he could legally drive a car. Determined to fly for a living, Armstrong began aeronautical engineering studies at Purdue University under the Holloway Plan, which sandwiched a free four-year college education around a three-year commitment to the U.S. Navy. Beginning active duty in 1949, he served during the Korean conflict, flying 78 combat missions and earning three medals. Neil Armstrong̢۪s historic moonwalk. After Korea, he returned to complete a bachelors degree in aeronautical engineering at Purdue, graduating in 1955. His resume was just what the government was looking for when building its first team of space explorers. NASAs predecessor, the National Advisory Committee on Aeronautics (NACA), hired him as an engineer and test pilot. At Edwards Air Force Base in California, he tested more than 50 different aircraft including chase planes, bombers, and the X-15 rocket plane, which he took above 207,000 feet at Mach 5.74 speeds. While at Edwards, he finished his masters degree in aerospace engineering at the University of Southern California. Many colleagues admired Armstrongs technical proficiency with aircraft, owed in part to his engineering training. Others, notably famous non-engineer hotshots Chuck Yeager and Pete Knight, complained that his piloting lacked a natural feel. Armstrongs involvement in several high-profile near-miss incidents as a test pilot did nothing to convince his critics that an engineer belonged in the cockpit. NASA tapped Armstrong for its astronaut program in 1962. In 1966, he commanded the Gemini 8 mission, becoming the first person to dock two orbiting spacecraft. His star was rising. Two random twists of fate made Armstrong the first man to walk on the moon. He was originally assigned to command the back-up crew for the Apollo 9 mission. However, he was called into action sooner to serve a similar back-up role on Apollo 8. Based on NASAs system of astronaut rotation, that change positioned him to command Apollo 11 the mission to land on the moon. Buzz Aldrin was originally assigned to take the first historic steps on the moon. However, based on the seating arrangements in the Lunar Module, Aldrin would have had to climb awkwardly over Armstrong to exit the craft first. Simple logistics made it Armstrongs one small step that achieved a giant leap for mankind.(Another version of the story suggests the order came from NASA higher-ups who felt it would be more appropriate for Armstrong to have the honor as mission commander). Debate lingers about Armstrongs iconic statement upon stepping on to the moons surface: Thats one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind. Reporters and spectators alike were wowed by the quote, but were scratching their heads at the same time. It should have, of course, been a small step for a man, but no one heard him say the a. Did he misspeak this eternal line, or did static make his statement inaudible? Armstrong has said he intended to say it, and that he hopes future scribes will insert a parenthetical a in the proper place. Apparently such earthly controversies pale in contrast to the awe of viewing our home planet from the moon. It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth.
